AIDS has become
the leading cause of death for adolescents in Africa and the second leading
cause of death among adolescents globally, the Global Fund has revealed.
The major cause of these deaths is that most children have no access to the treatment. According to the Global Fund just one in four children and
adolescents under the age of 15 has access to life-saving antiretroviral
treatment.
Experts in the prevention of the disease said that young women are the most affected. "HIV is the leading cause of death
among adolescents in Africa and young women are most affected" Said Michel Sidibe Executive Director of UNAIDS when they were launching a new platform called "All In' in Nairobi Kenya on 17 February 2015. for more on the launch All In launch
The question is will countries like Zimbabwe manage to curb this crisis given the economic condition prevailing in the country. The youths are the future leaders and if they are the most affected where are we going as a nation. What measures are the government putting in place as a mitigation measure.
