HIV is killing thousands young people
especially in Africa. According to a research published by the Global Fund,
ladies are the most affected by this pandemic. There are many reasons that have
been put forward for the spread of the disease but some reasons are not being
mentioned. People tend to ignore them.
Today I have decided to talk of the
dependence syndrome in young girls as a major driver in the spread of the
disease. Most young ladies depend on men to provide them with the basic
everyday necessities. This dependency reduces the power of the ladies in making
decisions.
Most ladies are going even to extremes in
trying to make sure they do not lose ‘their’ man. The most worrying thing is
that these ladies are looking for married men and some are even using Juju to
lure the men. The reason for them looking for married men is to get someone who
can financial provide for them.
I listened to a radio talk show on ZBC National FM and I heard a girl admitting that they use Juju to get married men. She says that guys of their age have no money and therefore they
cannot take care of them.

With such desperation how can the ladies
protect themselves against HIV? Can they be able to use protection during sex?
Obviously no! The men can dictate terms to the relationships and how they must
have sex. In this regard the girls are at risk of contracting HIV. Furthermore
the men are already married and no one knows what they have gone through.
